According to some official sources, Amazon is working on its first robot for home use. It is developing under a codename called “Vesta,” the name is inspired by the Goddess of the Hearth in Romania. The project is on its way at the Amazon hardware R&D center, Lab126 that already build the Fire Phone, Kindle, and Echo.
As per the latest prediction by the Research and Markets that the consumer robot market will rise with every year and by 2023 it will reach $15 billion. Currently, it is $5.4 billion. Technology has made it easy for the big companies to work on creating domestic robots. To perform necessary chores and offer companionship.
For a long time, some nations like Japan, U.S., and China are working on creating robotic servants. One of the popular among them was iRobot Corp.’s Roomba, which has sold more than 20 million units in the year of 2002. It is dedicated to doing only a single task, i.e., Vacuum.
The Secret of Amazon’s Mobile Alexa
With advancements in artificial intelligence, computer vision technology, voice activation, and cameras. It makes it easy for the Amazon to work on its Home assistant Robot. Amazon is already offering its products and services at discounted prices to the prime subscribers via its gadgets.
Even the retail giant is also focusing equally on the mainstream consumers to make its products affordable for them too. Still how the new Robot will look and perform is still secret, but it is predicted that it could be a kind of “mobile Alexa.”
It can follow people everywhere in the house where they cannot interact with Echo. The robot will be having cameras and computer vision software for navigation. As per company sources, they are planning to deploy these robots on their employee’s homes by the year-end. However, ordinary people will need to wait until next year to give it a test.
Competition
Amazon is not the first one to enter into the field of developing home-based virtual assistant robots. You may have known about Mayfield Robotics Kuri, LG’s Hub bot, and the Pixar-like Jibo. These robots are of much help while using in homes like in searching the web. They also control all the Wi-Fi connected devices, play interactive games, and set timers.
Virtual assistants present on the market or development have been prepared with the intention to make the homes smarter with time. A robot can understand your home and collect the required data to control the things. Imagine if you say “Turn on the Fan” to a Robot while sitting on a couch and it happens in seconds without your much effort!
Whatever the future may be having, for now, it’s only reported information. However, who knows the project may go flop like Fire Phone. We are expecting much from Amazon and its team. And after getting impressed by its Echo, we are sure that Amazon can make it possible for us to make our home complete Smart!
