LG and Samsung are planning to drop out the production of 3D TV by 50% or more which is considered a lot. 3D TV has always been in the rumor and never really took off that great, some of its reasons are due to the need to different types of glasses, Extra added cost, incompatibility between brand.

Right now we can easily see manufactures shifting to 4K HDR and the upcoming Ultra HD Blu-ray format. According to the reports produced by What HiFi, both Samsung and LG are planning to stop producing 3D TVs in a couple of years. An LG representative quotes that “Although 40% of all TVs last year had 3D functions, only 20% of TVs this year will have 3D function… Because there are still consumers who enjoy 3D movies, we are going to apply 3D mainly to premium products.” which clearly defines that LG isn’t going to pull the plugs yet but it could happen in coming years. While Samsung is still running from any comments to be made on this topic.
