The BlackBerry Priv users will start getting another Marshmallow beta update, as the fourth beta build. Previously it was running on version 5.1 Lollipop but almost a month ago, the company has announced that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is available on ShopBlackBerry.com. In the meantime, the device started receiving beta builds and this is the fourth one, weighs in at 1.8GB.
The Priv was released out in November 2015. It packs a 5.4-inch AMOLED curved edge screen supporting a QHD resolution at 540 and a slide-out physical keyboard that hides under it. The processor was powered by a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chip that houses a dual-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU and a quad-core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU backed by an Adreno 418 GPU coupled with 3GB of RAM.
The device has internal storage of 32GB which is expandable up to 200GB. It has 18MP of the primary camera with an aperture of f/2.2, it uses Schneider-Kreuznach optics and supports features such as optical image stabilization and phase detection autofocus and 2MP front camera which is not too good. The handset offers a 3410mAh battery capacity.
Users should connect to a wireless network before downloading the fourth Android beta build. Well the update is not for every user, it is only available for the STV100-1, STV100-3 and STV100-4 versions of the Priv.
If you have one of the above devices and have signed up for the company’s beta testing program, then you are lucky to get that update. Also remember the file is 1.8GB in size, so for downloading it needs a stable connection, and don’t even reboot it or cancel the download while it’s downloading, it can surely arise some problems.
